Wataru Uchida writes original tunes influenced by his East Asian sensibility for music and advanced jazz harmony. Wataru studied saxophone and composition with Chico Freeman, a saxophonist who worked with McCoy Tyner for many years. Wataru’s new album is Predawn Shenanigans Club, and he has been performing at NYC clubs. The quartet features Wataru Uchida , tenor sax; Yago Vazquez, keyboard; Kim Clarke, bass; and Lucianna Padmore, drums. www.wataruuchida.com
