PLG Arts Meet-The-Author Series at the Inkwell Cafe
Stephanie Clifford presents Everybody Rise; Helen Phillips presents The Beautiful Bureaucrat
The PLG Arts Meet-the-Author series features writers who live in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and other neighborhoods, reading from their work. Lively discussions with authors are followed by book signings. Greenlight Bookstore has joined PLG Arts in supporting this series, featuring some of our favorite authors!
Stephanie Clifford, a Loeb-award-winning reporter at The New York Times, was until recently a Metro reporter covering federal and state courts in Brooklyn, media, and New York City; she’ll present her debut novel Everybody Rise. Stephanie grew up in Seattle and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, son and two cats. Everybody Rise is her first book.
Helen Phillips is the author of the novel The Beautiful Bureaucrat, a New York Times Notable Book, and the collection And Yet They Were Happy, named a notable collection by The Story Prize. Her work has appeared on Selected Shorts and in Tin House and The New York Times. She is the recipient of a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writer’s Award and the Italo Calvino Prize. An assistant professor of creative writing at Brooklyn College, she lives in Brooklyn with her husband and children. Her story collection Some Possible Solutions is forthcoming in May 2016.
Greenlight will offer books for sale, and authors will sign after their presentation. Drinks are available for purchase.
