On September 8-9, 2012,
24 Prospect Lefferts Gardens artists will open their studios to the community as a part of the Brooklyn Museum “GO Brooklyn Art” project. Community members registered as voters can nominate artists for inclusion in a group exhibition to open at the Brooklyn Museum on December 1, 2012.
This month, PLG arts will spotlight 24, GO PLG ARTISTS from the neighborhood.
How do you feel about being a part of “GO BROOKLYN ART”?
“I am really pleased to join the 23 other artists in the neighborhood for the GO BROOKLYN ARTexhibition. On a daily basis, I don’t have the opportunity to meet the other like-minded people in the area. It’s especially exciting to have a chance to come out of our individual corners and come together in this context.”
Is there anything about your PLG neighborhood that gives you inspiration to create?
“Yes! Walks around the neighborhood mainly influence my last body of work. I wanted to hone in on areas of angles and sections of architecture I found compelling. I set myself up and drew right on site, either on the street or in the park, returning later to the studio to add value. If a viewer observes my works on paper, correlations are easy to find.”
