On September 8-9, 2012,
24 Prospect Lefferts Gardens artists will open their studios to the community as a part of the Brooklyn Museum “GO Brooklyn Art” project. Community members registered as voters can nominate artists for inclusion in a group exhibition to open at the Brooklyn Museum on December 1, 2012.
This month, PLG arts will spotlight 24, GO PLG ARTISTS from the neighborhood.
How do you feel about being a part of “GO BROOKLYN ART”?
“It is a treat. Showing my studio a wonderful way to demonstrate both my art and the practice of making it. As opposed to other exhibition opportunities, I have total control over how to present myself and my work. It is flattering that people what to come and see the place where work comes together.”
Is there anything about your PLG neighborhood that gives you inspiration to create?
“Where to start? This neighborhood, is full of warm people who want to communicate. I don’t feel like there is a separate arts subculture in PLG; rather its integrated. There is such an amazing mix of cultures and perspectives here. I get inspiration from daily interactions, amazing conversations, a walk in the park.”
