Artist Spotlight: Sylvia Maier

On September 8-9, 2012,
24 Prospect Lefferts Gardens artists will open their studios to the community as a part of the Brooklyn Museum “GO Brooklyn Art” project. Community members registered as voters can nominate artists for inclusion in a group exhibition to open at the Brooklyn Museum on December 1, 2012.

This month, PLG arts will spotlight 24, GO PLG ARTISTS from the neighborhood.

How do you feel about being a part of “GO BROOKLYN ART”?

“I am thrilled to be a part of Go Brooklyn Art! Brooklyn is a wonderful source of culture and inspiration. I love seeing what artist are up to and how our perceptions are expressed.”

Is there anything about your PLG neighborhood that gives you inspiration to create?

“The drummers’ circle and the lake have been backdrops to many paintings. I have painted the drummers circle life size during different seasons and times of day. There are 5 paintings that link up as one entire painting, I will show in my studio.  KDog cafe has inspired the cafe series, I’ve painted the staff and those too will be at the studio.”
