Afro Dominicano, a Latin Fusion band that centers its music on Afro Caribbean soul, will be the next event in the ongoing PLG Arts Music Series. The band blends traditional folkloric roots music from the Dominican Republic with Afro-beats, reggae, calypso, samba, funk, punk rock, and other Caribbean rhythms. Playing mostly original songs written and arranged by the band plus a few cover songs that are their own renditions of the music they grew up listening to as Dominican’s living in the United States, the band is composed of vocalists, guitar, bass, drums, conga, guira, and tambora.
The show is at Erv’s, 2122 Beekman Place (just off Flatbush Ave), from 8-10 pm on Wednesday, October 16.
Drinks are widely available; food is sometimes available. Remember: PLG Arts Music Series is always free (donations are happily accepted) and happens the third Wednesday of every month.
