Wine reception to follow
In 2016 Greenlight launched Nicole Dennis-Benn’s radiant debut novel, Here Comes the Sun, and selected it as our August First Editions Club pick. This year, Greenlight hosts the paperback launch of the book in our new Prospect Lefferts Gardens location. In this highly acclaimed novel, a cast of unforgettable women battle for independence while a maelstrom of change threatens their Jamaican village. Encompassing the clash of commercial development and individuals struggling for financial, sexual, and personal freedom, Here Comes the Sun offers a dramatic glimpse into a vibrant, passionate world most outsiders see simply as paradise. Dennis-Benn’s debut was named a Best Book of 2016 by the New York Times, NPR, Buzzfeed, The Root, Kirkus, and more, and was a finalist for the New York Public Library Young Lions Award, the Lambda Literary Award, the NBCC John Leonard Prize, and the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. Dennis-Benn discusses her work with Lisa Lucas, executive director of the National Book Foundation, followed by a wine reception to celebrate the paperback launch.
