Jessica Lurie is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, and improviser performing on saxophones, flute, and voice. Her original compositions feature lyrical pop, rhythmic Eastern European folk music, and improvisation-heavy jazz with a dose of free-wheeling avant-groove. With her at tomorrow’s PLG Arts Jazz Night will be long-time collaborator Rene Hart on bass (Honey Ear Trio,David Amram group), dynamic virtuoso Brian Marsalla on keyboard (Cyro Baptista projects, Matisyahu, John Zorn), and high-octane drummer Yoni Halevy (The Apples, 9Volt).
Jessica composes for dance, theater, and film, and tours internationally with her Tiptons Saxophone Quartet, the Living Daylights Trio, Sofie Salonika, Zion80, Far Cry Flutes, Great Small Works and Circus Amok. Her newest CD, co-produced with bassist Todd Sickafoose, will be released Spring 2016.
