Joy Askew

Originally from the North of England, Joy Askew has made New York City her home for over 30 years. Although her early influences were Miles Davis, Hendrix, Peter Green and American and English blues singers, Joy eventually became a singer/songwriter and also arranges for brass. She recorded her fifth album of original songs “Queen Victoria”, with The Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band from Yorkshire England.

In the 80’s & 90’s Joy was the keyboard player with such luminary artists as Joe Jackson, Peter Gabriel, Laurie Anderson, Jack Bruce and Rodney Crowell and in 1986  appeared in Laurie Anderson’s quintessential movie “Home Of The Brave”.

At The Owl Music Parlor Askew will play songs solo, old, current and brand new.
