With Joni Murphy and Donald Breckenridge

Moderated by Tobias Carroll

Co-presented by Vol. 1 Brooklyn

Eugene Lim presents his hotly anticipated novel Dear Cyborg at Greenlight, accompanied by a reading and panel co-presented by Vol. 1 Brooklyn. In a small Midwestern town, two Asian American boys bond over their outcast status and a mutual love of comic books. Meanwhile, in an alternative or perhaps future universe, a team of superheroes ponder modern society during their time off. Entwining comic-book villains with cultural and capitalist critiques, Eugene Lim’s Dear Cyborgs is an exploration of power, protest, friendship, and resistance. Lim is joined by writers Joni Murphy and Donald Breckenridge. Murphy’s debut novel Double Teenage, named one of The Globe’s Best Books of the Year, explores two girls’ coming-of-age in the 1990s in a desert town close to the U.S.–Mexico border. Breckenridge’s latest novel And Then is a ghost story, telling tales about the people that come and go from our lives and the indelible marks they leave. Lim, Murphy, and Breckenridge read from their work, followed by a discussion moderated by Vol. 1 Brooklyn managing editor Tobias Carroll.
