Rumaan Alam presents Rich and Pretty
Mandy Berman presents Perennials
Greenlight hosts two contemporary authors whose fiction explores the intricacies and nuances of female friendship. Rumaan Alam launches the paperback edition of his debut novel Rich and Pretty; set in contemporary New York, the novel provides a sharp, insightful look into how the relationship between two best friends changes when they are no longer coming of age but learning how to live adult lives – and how the bonds of friendship endure, even when paths diverge. Berman presents her debut novel Perennials, a sharp, poignant coming-of-age novel about the magic of summer camp and the thrill and pain of growing up. Perennials tells the story of Rachel and Fiona, back at Camp Marigold as counselors, and the tensions of a turbulent summer. As tragedy strikes, Rachel and Fiona are forced to confront their pasts, and the adults they’re becoming. Alam and Berman read from their novels, and discuss their work in conversation, followed by a Q&A.
