Part of the Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival
The Brooklyn Caribbean Literature Festival is a three-day celebration of culture as expressed through the pen of the storyteller and the voice of the poet, taking place at venues throughout the borough. Greenlight is proud to participate in the inaugural BCLF with two successive events at the bookstore. At noon, you’re invited to indulge in a lunchtime reading with Barbara Jenkins, a prizewinning author from Trinidad and Tobago, who will read from her highly-acclaimed books Sic Transit Wagon and De Rightest Place. A conversation and Q&A with Broadway actor, dancer, and singer Rachel Oneika Phillips will follow. Then, at 3:00 PM, Greenlight hosts ‘A Woman’s Word,’ a reading of original and tribute writings of Caribbean women by Caribbean women, led by the prolific author/professor/literary savant, Prof. Elizabeth Nunez and featuring readings by Von Diaz, Camille Darby, Janice Lawrence-Clarke, Lesley-Ann Brown, Breanne Mc Ivor.
