Featuring poets Anselm Berrigan and Edmund Berrigan
Reception to follow
San Francisco publisher City Lights launched in 1955 with the Pocket Poets Series. In the tradition of the press’s storied poetic origins, City Lights Spotlight, a new poetry series, was born in 2009, curated and edited by Garrett Caples. From accomplished and established poets to emerging voices, City Lights Spotlight seeks to shine a light on innovative and original poetry from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds and experiences. To celebrate this series, Greenlight hosts a reading with two City Lights Spotlight authors. Edmund Berrigan is the series’ most recently featured poet with City Lights Spotlight #18, More Gone, a quintessentially New York collection that documents the poet’s search for domestic tranquility in the city that never sleeps. Joining him is his brother Anselm Berrigan, the poet behind the second installment in the Spotlight Poetry Series: Free Cell, an experimental and reflective examination of poetic form and of the self. A reception follows the reading to celebrate City Lights.
